Fight or Flight. Her preferred method was flight. Run as fast and as far as you can. Sometimes...okay mostly...flight was "on the wings of angels" literally. Surely death had to be easier than life.
That picture is incredible! I've dealt with suicide ideation for most of my life. For those who don't know, ideation does not mean that a person is actually planning to commit suicide, although sometimes there can be both. In my case it means that when life gets too hard, suicide sounds like a better option and I think about it a lot, but I wouldn't actually do it because there are too many people depending on me. Anyway, that's what your words make me think of because I feel that way, more of the time than I care to realize.
I enjoyed this: short and to the point - and packed with feeling. Scott Mine: http://kindredspirit23.wordpress.com/2013/07/05/fsf-five-sentence-fiction-7513-flight-pg13/
I am so behind in responding to comments and reading through these...thank you all so very much for providing such reflection to my words! Liam, your comment is written as a work of art. Am awed by it.
sometimes it seems it might be, especially when you are always running from something...

Helena, yes, I couldn't believe that art when I was looking! I understand and live with ideation too. One day it would be nice not to think about it.
DeleteThank you, Brian, Mama Z, and Angela!

This makes me wonder what she wanted to get away from. Well done!
ReplyDeleteHow very sad to be in such a place where death seems preferable over life. You conveyed much emotion in these few words.

Powerful emotion. Makes me want to know more about her.
ReplyDeleteHello Maggie!
ReplyDeleteGlad to meet you!
Such a pressing whirl; thoughts gain prominence over reality; fear takes control and everything seems to sink into death!
You touch some secret chord in my soul; I do understand the mortal need of peace!
Incredible real in so many words!
