Mindful Stone

Body feels so aged
Still climbing trees and
walking down hallways

Screaming inside to
run free
Screaming on outside
to make it stop

Kitchen Art

Mindful Stone

frying, bubbling and spitting
The chef is at work making frittata
Sizzling sounds quiet to a murmur
The cracking of eggs followed by
swift beating
with only tools of perfection
Food is art to him
His creations divine

Introspection 2.21.13

I have no roots
A sperm
An egg
Raised by evil
But light surges through
at 44

Breakaway from all previously known
A lone seed
needing to heal to sprout
to blossom

New roots began
Secure, loving, safe
Love of me
(who I was meant to be)

Last year a band on my finger
Loving fertilizer to grow my security
I belong with him
My roots intertwine with his
Together we are a stronger
happier entity

Even new ones
Can grow deeply into the heart
Roots need not be physically bound
into the soil
Self hydroponics
The heart suffices to grow new life

My roots are now reaching
to embrace
new family
friendships of safety
friendships to nurture my soul
My roots are true and heartfelt.

Sounds of Silence

Mindful Stone Day 44

Nightmares for years
of a place unknown
a school, shopping center, dorm
Last night yet again
though it's been quite awhile
Strange books, a library,
feeling overwhelmed and unworthy

Suddenly awake breathing heavily
Initially thought it was carryover from nightmare
but it continued
Realizing I'm breathing making sounds,
I listen intently
A pattern of sounds
It's someone new crossed over from the
wall of amnesia
She cannot speak but repeats the pattern
She helps me calm down for I am panicked at
her labored breathing
Slowly feeling grounded, I fall back to sleep
I woke up later and my voice had returned
Waiting to get to know the newly surfaced being
who is part of me
And does she have the answers to stop that particular
nightmare hell

Mindful Stone Day 43

Peeking outside in snow-spotted garden
I spy a weed
A dandelion ~ tightly held buds with
frays of yellow
ready to burst open
A weed that used to  threaten the beauty
of my tiny courtyard
now brings smiles
knowing Lucy will happily chow down
on every leaf and bloom

Haiku Day 12

River swells as snow melts
Tears flood my eyes

Mindful Stone Day 41

Waking up, I wondered what I might find today
in our stones group
It reminded me I had a tiny dish of stones
and other items for grounding
that I could hold
or place in a pocket for security

When a therapist, I sometimes would offer a stone
to a client to help them ground themselves
and feel connected to me between sessions

I realized our stones group does the same for us...
keeping us connected in a supportive and accepting
healthy way

Our stones have become spiritual communion.

Lost in Wonder

Mindful Stone Day 39

I have the gift of company within
From five-year-old happy innocence
To very wise elder
It is most rare when I am not aware
of someone nearby
Waking up each morning I find myself quite young
and so delighted with my world
Her voice is young and happy and full of curiosity and giggles
Often I wish to just climb into her
for the rest of my days

Haiku Day 8

Mount Fuji in the distance

Mindful Stone 38

Agonizing over "killing fields"
in my latest haiku,
I rewrite and transform until
the trauma is first and
blossoming new life is last.
I feel the healing in the release.

Family "Ties"

Introspective View

Family shattered
At first shards of glass
Now a pile of dust
harmless but sad

New family
Friends who accept
Family who love
Understanding is always difficult
but acceptance is freeing

Toxic family gone
New family invigorates and heals
Thankful for the second chance to "be"

Anniversary Date

Stone Day 35

His death two years ago
The monster in my bed
His patriotic sacrifice made before my birth
My lifelong destiny -
a mind with a security clearance
required to enter
Without my knowledge until age 44

Secrets still not believed
yet I exist
Telling my truth is my only purpose for being
Grief, anger
Emotions strike simultaneously
Grief for my life
Not his death
