a shrine to Mary

This shrine was built into the hillside of a very steep hill in the town of Brunate, Italy. We climbed it in May 2005. Shrines everywhere to Mary throughout Europe.

    1. Thank you, Hank! I didn't even post this yet. How sweet of you to be here. I'm loving Monday Mornings with Mary and am not religious. I'm so drawn to her. Happy Monday to you :)

  2. A beautiful shrine and a wonderful haiku!! As your haiku states, everything is a shrine to Mary who does not belong to any religion other than Life Itself.

  3. I find wayside shrines to be an endearing (and often enduring) testimony to those who care about the mysteries of the sacred.

  4. Like Magical Mystical Teacher, I too love these tucked away shrines. I had never heard of this one before. And your haiku so simply and eloquently synopsizes your visit to this shrine.

  5. Beautiful, Maggie Grace. I have never come across a roadside shrine anywhere, so I especially like it when I see them posted.

  7. truly there is nothing more touching than finding a roadside shrine, an unexpected glimpse of mary. i love all your comments received and that you are enjoying mornings with mary, as i truly am. hettiene's "everything is a shrine to Mary; who does not belong to any religion other than Life Itself." strikes a deep cord in me.

    1. You're welcome. So glad I found you through Magical Mystical Teacher. I look forward so much to writing here. A deep chord in me too...that all are drawn to her...not necessarily by religion.
