Wordle #111
Write a poem or prose using the following words:
wind on the prairie
so nimble swirling 'round limbs
crave cooling rapture
train of tumbleweeds
down the halls of no man's land
vault cactus with ease
parched throat from hot sun
pausing to reach for canteen
embrace desert view
I enjoyed roaming the prairie/desert in your poem!
ReplyDeletei have yet to appreciate the beauty of the desert, preferring the green of the wooded mountains or the sand which accompanies sea. But, I can indeed feel the pause to appreciate in your last stanza
ReplyDeleteI had not been in southwest before last month. So taken with the dramatic view where desert and buttes and canyons come together. Not sure I'd want too much of just desert ;-O Thanks for visiting and commenting!
DeleteThis is lovely, compact and rich. Well done.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this piece... coincidentally )or not( I just told my daughter the story of tumbleweeds in my grandmother's backyard in Minnesota. She collected them on her trips to visit us "out West" and put them in a corner of her yard. I love when echoes of real life show up in the work of friends. cool beans...or breezes ;) tumbling by....
ReplyDeleteI never saw one but my mind was on the prairie and that train of tumbleweeds just kinda fell out of my head. Maybe I was picking up on your thoughts ;-O Thanks for liking that...and hopefully the photo. They do tend to travel in packs from what I saw on google.
DeleteNever saw a tumbleweed? Here's one for you: When I was a wee one, my mother found a huge tumbleweed and spray-painted it white, then hung pink Christmas ornaments on it. That was our "tree" that year.

Makes me want to grab my canteen (well, if I had one!) and head Southwest for a visit.
ReplyDeleteI like to think the tumbleweed is saying "Look at me I can fly!"
ReplyDeleteas well as vaulting cactus, that is.
I do enjoy reading a compact wordle, and yours is very tidy and frugal! Nice work.
ReplyDeleteWonderfully done and love those tumbleweeds swirling around and waving, and riding on the desert wind!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun challenge. I love how you were able to pack so much detail with very few words. Very well done!
ReplyDeleteMaggie, I love the desert and you give it such life here. Well wordled.
ReplyDeletePamela
