to see the parade
fathers hold children up high
memories to keep

Awesome Maggie, a short story about the Gion Festival caught in a nice trio of haiku. Well done.

If I didn't have a camera, I couldn't remember a tenth of the things I see!

It's so easy to lose track of time when you're simply wandering from place to place, especially at a festival!
ReplyDeleteGion Festival
I really love the last one
ReplyDeleteLove each one of them..but last one is my favorite..brought back sweet memories :)
ReplyDeletewe have a 'Feast of the Fishermen' here, and these brought back memories for me....I no longer attend because of the massive crowds, but, once, it was a family fiesta....
ReplyDeleteThank you all for comments. I removed the first haiku and added a new last haiku. Wanted one I could relate to about crowds and parades. Felt disconnected from my writing even though they were true to the prompt. At least I think fathers hold their children on their shoulders in other countries at parades. Appreciate all visits and comments. Sometimes I don't comment but I do read all.
ReplyDeleteWonderful ... especially the last haiku. Real festival spirit.
