CD: Gion Festival (Gione)

Carpe Diem #230

at the festival
wandering the booths of wares
i lose track of time

to see the parade
fathers hold children up high
memories to keep

people flood the streets
ornate floats parade by me
 don't lose me in crowd

  1. Awesome Maggie, a short story about the Gion Festival caught in a nice trio of haiku. Well done.

  2. If I didn't have a camera, I couldn't remember a tenth of the things I see!

  3. It's so easy to lose track of time when you're simply wandering from place to place, especially at a festival!

  4. Love each one of them..but last one is my favorite..brought back sweet memories :)

  5. we have a 'Feast of the Fishermen' here, and these brought back memories for me....I no longer attend because of the massive crowds, but, once, it was a family fiesta....

  6. Thank you all for comments. I removed the first haiku and added a new last haiku. Wanted one I could relate to about crowds and parades. Felt disconnected from my writing even though they were true to the prompt. At least I think fathers hold their children on their shoulders in other countries at parades. Appreciate all visits and comments. Sometimes I don't comment but I do read all.

  7. Wonderful ... especially the last haiku. Real festival spirit.
