Song of Mourning
Carpe Diem (Threnody/Elegy)
from cheers to tears
we watch in horror
elegy for humanity

death kills not our spirit
you bring us closer
with your hate
I don't know if Mark proposed this prompt before or after the Boston Marathon, but it is bringing out those feelings. Thanks, Mark and Kristjaan for helping us to express our grief.
well done, Maggie

Beautifully done!
ReplyDeleteYes the grief is felt by all!
ReplyDeleteMark proposed this prompt far before the Boston Marathon tragedy. I am glad that it helps to give the grief a place in your heart. It's horrible what has happened there.
ReplyDeleteEvery time I think of little 8-year-old Martin Richard, the teacher in me becomes sad all over again...

I can't bear to watch the news of it. I turned it off after hearing/seeing it several times. I did see the little boys's photo yesterday. So heartbreaking. Am sure it is even deeper for you as a teacher.
Deletewell done.. what happened was too horrible for words, i like the spirit of your second haiku
ReplyDeleteYou touch a lot of feelings here. so befitting.
