Wordle: Raven Circling Sun

The Sunday Whirl
Wordle 108

Write poetry/prose/haiku using the following 12 words.

My offering: Prose and two haiku.

At the mouth of the river
near the cave of the ancient ones
I mouth the chants and the vow
binding myself to space and time

raven circling sun
lands on broken branch
eyes gazing at me

shaking fist in anger
crook of my arm reveals scars
my last wish ignored

(Please know the last haiku is fiction for those who might worry.)

  1. I was hoping the story would continue, after such a good setting and the raven taking its position!!

    1. Point taken, Nanka. Will make earnest effort to have a continuing story next time. Wasn't focused enough this time to do that. Thank you for feedback. Always appreciated!

  3. Nice, Maggie. Makes me wonder why you stepped away from writing (life, notwithstanding) but you do it so well, from what I've read. Wanting more? Yeah, me too!

    1. Thank you, Walt, for reading and commenting! Focus got blown away. So started with haiku and now able to both read and write up to 500 words for all the entries...reading. Challenges are teaching me to refocus. Such a nice compliment!

  4. Wow - what a last line. That type of wish best to be ignored!
I don't have a twitter account so I"m reading yours here - the Chez Vouz is very funny!

    1. Thank you, Robyn. Brain not usually that creative but the terms popped into my mind while writing the tweet :)) Next time will try to make all connect. Wasn't that focused this time. Thanks for reading!

  6. Like Old Egg, the variety of interpretations fascinates. The raven was real and unsettling!
