Carpe Diem ~ Southard's "Widening Rings"
We are to write a new haiku inspired on this masterpiece by O. Mabson Southard in the same sense, tone and spirit:
a patter of rain ...
the lily-pad undulates
on widening rings
My inspired haiku:

crane at the ready
eyes his fish for dinner
frog hangs on for plunge
frogs better watch it, they may be dinner...i like the inspiration piece as well...cranes are cool...ew used to see a lot of them when we lived in florida...
ReplyDeleteWe have a few in a nearby park. Was able to watch them "fish" earlier in the summer this year. Pretty cool.
DeleteSo was it the crane that made Basho's frog jump in?
ReplyDelete"My pond" apparently has an ever present frog ;-O I have a small pond feature in my garden and got a little frog who I choose to think "left" for bigger waters. My poor froggie.
DeleteWhat if the crane decides to go for the frog instead?;)
ReplyDeletePattering of Rain
My frog would hide ;-O
DeleteOh was that the end of Basho's frog?...
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous haiku ..
