CD: "A Secret Meeting"

Carpe Diem's Tan Renga Challenge #2

Add two seven-syllable lines to the following 5-7-5 haiku penned by Kristjaan Panneman who is the internationally published haikuist leading the Carpe Diem daily meme:

in the old barn
behind the straw bales
a secret meeting

my two added lines:

giggles and rustling from hay
forbidden tryst unheeded

Wordle: Teens in Love

The Sunday Whirl
Wordle #113

Write prose/poetry incorporating the following words:

moonshine lights the path
giggle shatters the silence
crazy teenage love

chattering from cold
sense of love loads them with warmth
scoops her in his arms

doorway like a cave
cuts the windchill around them
stealing a quick kiss

in the wake of love
anything to stay together
jarring door splits them

time to part ways
parents have intervened
moment is shattered

Toads: Dry Around the Bend

Imaginary Garden With Real Toads
Artistic Interpretations with Margaret

spiraling down into the desert town
tall pine forest lines the way
a crescent moon in cloudless sky
the stars twinkling their ballet

the moon still seen in daylight
bluest skies for days on end
the river barely trickling
dry around the bend

the buttes rise out of nowhere
their majesty unmatched
casting shadow over homesteads
offering coolness soon dispatched

tall cactus stand sentinel
a testament to the past
but forests burned and trees amiss
are premonitions cast

still beauty reigns
in canyon rocks telling nature's story
the desert land so harsh and dry
is the cowboy's land of glory

Trifextra: Summer

Trifextra: Week Seventy-Two

Write 33 words of thoughts on summer.

Summer was born on June 21st, the longest day of the year. And she will forever live in their hearts as that day was her only day on earth..their angel of summer.

Sedona: Haiku/Poetry Surrounding Journey

Sedona Thoughts & Messages
(See Haiku Journey to Sedona here)

as you find freedom
my heart will remember
you once were there

in vortex of time
spirits dance in confluence
blackness drifts away
we'll always remember that
once we were

healing will come
canyons will call me home
fear will float away

her *death* a rebirth
soul soaring with raven wings
love and soul still shared

she will not die for love
she will live for our freedom
raven soars for us

soon gone with the wind
my soul mate to fly with clouds
releasing herself
for my freedom
soaring with joy

Prelude to Sedona

Prelude to Sedona (May 16-19, 2013)
Synopsis of Past

my seed planted
for your hidden garden of lies
my life a mere pawn
but I survived the pain
and live to tell

spewing my dark past
feeling anger in clenched jaw
time to just let go

the pain deep within
now yearns to find freedom
it has its own voice

(Healing from 1997-2013. "Led" to Sedona for healing ceremony to release "residual" trauma left over from healing.)

Toads: City of the Dead

Imaginary Garden With Real Toads
Out of Standard: Film School Drop Out Edition

in city of the dead
raven caws
his kingdom
now invaded

a trollish man
with spirits black
wreaks of danger
to the haven

raven caws
to signal all
blackbirds within range
on cue attack
evil man to death
each proud
of peckish rage

another body
amidst the tombs
nameless without heart
but safe again
city of the dead
as we hear the raven caw

(In New Orleans, the above-ground cemeteries are known as cities of the dead. The opening scene of the video inspired my writing. Some rhyming but mostly free verse...whatever that is. I did like writing...cathartic for evil little green man.)
