FF: Safari Gone Awry

Friday Fictioneers

Copyright – EL Appleby

Five-year-old Katie was so excited about her summer vacation on safari with her parents. She loved all kinds of animals and even liked to hold the snakes at the petting zoo. Two weeks prior to the trip, her father broke his leg and had to be in a cast for two months.

To make up for having to wait another year for her safari, Katie’s father had a specially made stuffed animal representing as many safari animals as possible ordered as a gift. Katie was thrilled with her present and looked forward to the real vacation when she was six.

She knew exactly where the clandestine meeting was being held. The wealthiest of the wealthy met each year to discuss their evil goals for Earth’s fate. She had long awaited the day when she would get her revenge and had paid dearly for the location.

Those who thrived on war, oil, and status while keeping the lower and middle classes forever struggling would finally meet their fate. Even if they had replacements, she would dedicate her life to making sure “they” knew their secrets were no longer safe. She held the detonation button watching the second hand of the clock.

Not Pretty

100 Words #329 - Pretty

Pretty is not me
I was the smart one
the little one with big boobs
as early as pre-teen

I thought being nominated
to the Homecoming Court
was a joke
but it wasn't
I still don't understand
how that happened

My body fell apart at age 55
right after my own mini-“extreme”-makeover
My husband loves me warts and all
I know I’m pretty in his eyes
even after I had my breasts turned into
ballerina boobs

I don’t feel pretty
and it doesn’t even matter any more
No make up
comfy not trendy
I’ll be who I damn well please

The Ugly Truth

Saturday Centus - Week 156

"DEAR JOHN": Use these two words to start a letter. Use 100 ADDITIONAL words to say what you want to say to 'Dear John' in your letter.

Dear John,

News of your death couldn’t have reached me fast enough. Since remembering how you abused me as a child, all the conscious feelings of fear I had for you became clear. You cast me out of the family for revealing your ugly truth, labeling me as the liar. Yet no innocent father…a father who loved his daughter…would have responded in that manner.

The news may have been late in reaching me, but now I can breathe knowing you are no longer roaming this earth capable of harming another. I long ago disavowed you as my father. Hell surely awaits you.
