Kitchen Art

Mindful Stone

Sounds from kitchen
frying, bubbling and spitting
The chef is at work making frittata
Sizzling sounds quiet to a murmur
The cracking of eggs followed by
swift beating
with only tools of perfection
Food is art to him
His creations divine

Truth

Mindful Stone Day 49

Wind carries truth
to plant seeds in minds
awaiting its arrival

(Thoughts of news reaching into The Vatican. Open minds needed to receive the ugly truth.)

Painless

Mindful Stone Day 47
Haiku Day 17 (Black)

Dark art bleeds through me
silently
with no emotion

Dandelion

Mindful Stone Day 43

Peeking outside in snow-spotted garden
I spy a weed
A dandelion ~ tightly held buds with
frays of yellow
ready to burst open
A weed that used to  threaten the beauty
of my tiny courtyard
now brings smiles
knowing Lucy will happily chow down
on every leaf and bloom

Rooftop Song

Mindful Stone Day 42

Soft cooing
One of nature's songs
Pigeons on the roof

Communion

Mindful Stone Day 41

Waking up, I wondered what I might find today
in our stones group
It reminded me I had a tiny dish of stones
and other items for grounding
that I could hold
or place in a pocket for security

When a therapist, I sometimes would offer a stone
to a client to help them ground themselves
and feel connected to me between sessions

I realized our stones group does the same for us...
keeping us connected in a supportive and accepting
healthy way

Our stones have become spiritual communion.

Lost in Wonder

Mindful Stone Day 39

I have the gift of company within
From five-year-old happy innocence
To very wise elder
It is most rare when I am not aware
of someone nearby
Waking up each morning I find myself quite young
and so delighted with my world
Her voice is young and happy and full of curiosity and giggles
Often I wish to just climb into her
for the rest of my days

Transformation

Mindful Stone 38

Agonizing over "killing fields"
in my latest haiku,
I rewrite and transform until
the trauma is first and
blossoming new life is last.
I feel the healing in the release.

Coping Skills

Stone Day 36

The ladder out of depression
Each rung takes energy
Easier to stay in the dark

Anniversary Date

Stone Day 35

His death two years ago
The monster in my bed
His patriotic sacrifice made before my birth
My lifelong destiny -
a mind with a security clearance
required to enter
Without my knowledge until age 44

Secrets still not believed
yet I exist
Telling my truth is my only purpose for being
Grief, anger
Emotions strike simultaneously
Grief for my life
Not his death

Past Tense

Stone 34

Princess skin chafed
from braving the treadmill yesterday
Aches and pains will soon surface.
Recalling a time when my gymnast body
Flexed with ease
and I felt so free

Downpour

Stone Day 33

seeking some relief
from outpouring of tears
mind and body
awash with painful memories
each droplet agony on my soul

Synchronicity

Mindful Stone Day 27

The synchronicity of my life
is awesome
Even through grueling times
I am in awe of the invisible
universal consciousness
that brings people
and answers into my world
Numbers
times
words
films
The unfathomable yet welcome
manifestation of all
we do not know
becomes real
at the most unexpected times

Cerulean Sea

Small Stone Day 10

The polarized band
the deepest blue of the sky
leaves me in awe
each time I catch a glimpse
I could lose myself in that
cerulean sea

Singing Bowl

 Mindful Stone Day 9

Sacred bowl in palm
wood to metal
circling slowly around the rim
vibrations build
from bowl to hand
wood to metal becomes sound
soothing
grounding
Holding the vibrating bowl to my ear
I drink in the final frequencies
and quench my ears with soul
